Water Treatment Plant Clearwell CCTV – ROV Video Inspection Survey and Sediment Removal

January 2025

In January of 2025, PW MAKAR Coatings Inspection Ltd., completed a Close Circuit Television (CCTV) Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Video Inspection and Sediment Removal of a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Clearwell in a Remote Northern First Nations Settlement in Northern Ontario.

Our Materials Protection and Performance Coatings Inspectors, and ROV technician conducted a thorough Clearwell inspection survey, both above and below the waterline; and then conducted the sediment removal from the floor areas within the WTP Clearwell.

The Clearwell inspection survey was completed with a portable, potable water “only” CCTV- underwater ROV utilizing a 4K Ultra High-Definition camera and lighting system.

The sediment removal from the floor areas of the Clearwell was completed with a portable CCTV, underwater, remotely operated, vacuum tractor system.

The remote vacuum tractor allows PW MAKAR to remotely vacuum and discharge sediment from the Clearwell, while remotely watching and recording the cleaning productivity on a handheld controller connected to a 24” monitor.

Prior to the remote inspection and cleaning of the Clearwell, a thorough disinfection of the potable water equipment was conducted.

The Remote Northern First Nations Settlement Clearwell inspection survey and cleaning was conducted without taking the Clearwell offline; in a cost-effective manner, without confined space entry safety or water quality issues. Finaly, a detailed inspection and cleaning report was provided to the client, utilizing the high-definition video and photo recordings.
